We like to think of ourselves as the heart and the hands of GiwaGrass.
Eugenia, the heart: daydreamer, curious, sensitive. Mubarak, the hands: dynamic, pragmatic, bold.
Our personalities together are the driving force behind our brand.
Our story is about two worlds that intertwine and GiwaGrass is a celebration of cultural unity, quality craftsmanship, and the art of weaving stories through products.
Preserve and promote are two of our guiding principles; through our creations, we aim to connect diverse cultures, promote sustainability, and enrich lives, ensuring that each piece not only serves as a functional item but also as a bearer of stories and traditions of the local community.
Summer 2022 was decisive for us, as we embarked on a one-month journey to (re)discover Ghana, more precisely Accra, the country’s capital city and Mubarak’s hometown. We soaked in the vivid colors of the streets, we tasted new (Eugenia) and old (Mubarak) flavors and took in the warmth of the red soil and sun, mirrored in the welcoming attitude of the people of Accra and in the chaotic yet charming chaos of its markets.
Once we got home, our thoughts went back to the marvelous handwoven creations we saw along the streets, under the shade of trees, in markets, at the stoplights… We did not know then that our project had already started to take shape.
We wish to celebrate the bond between Italy and Ghana by bringing authentic handcrafted products to the world, ensuring that each item offers a tangible connection to the traditions and artisan techniques that make our collections uniquely impactful and culturally significant.
Our project goes against the grain.
Not fast but slow; handcrafting our products requires time and attention. Unique and never the same: no item is ever the same as the other. Our collections include a limited number of items, each unique and irreplaceable.
As ambitious as it is, we take on the challenge because we believe conscious and sustainable trade is the right choice for everyone’s future.
